About Rootlines

Rootlines was created by my wife, Jeni, in 2012 as part of the growing demand for accurate genealogy research with little or no cost.  In 2014, it became the focus of her final project for her Master's Degree in Public History, and I became her webmaster because of my extensive background in the computer industry.

Rootlines was created using TNG software written by Darrin Lythgoe.  It is a dynamic PHP and database driven web application that stores content based on key records of people and places. Extensible to allow addition of modules to enhance features and function. TNG supports multiple users but with limited security context due to the open nature of its intended use.  The Roolines pages have been customized and new pages have been added using the CSS format.

As the webmaster, I handle the advanced coding and technical side of the project, while my wife is the mastermind behind the concept and design features.
